Silhouette and Bella Blvd

I am SO excited about the project I have to share with you today! For the last couple of days I've been playing with the Designer Edition of the Silhouette Software. I've had so much fun! I can't wait to show you what I've learned and what I created.

For my first project I worked with the "knives" feature. I started with THIS image from the Silhouette store.

I copied this image three times and used the rulers that come on the top and right of the screen to measure so I got the hearts evenly spaced across the page.
Then I used the knife feature and cut the middle heart in half using the triangular knife.
After that I moved the right half of the heart slightly to the right and down to make the heart look broken.
After I cut the image I used the negative part of the paper for my design. I used a pencil to trace hearts and covered the penciled in hearts with designer tape. I then adhered my patterned paper on top of the cardstock to create my background.
Here's a few detailed images of my layout:

And here's the final project:

look at those blue eyes...I love this lil guy! Thanks for stopping by today, make sure you stop by the Bella Blvd blog today. They have a Silhouette Portrait to give away to one of their blog readers. Tomorrow I'll have a tutorial for my second layout using the Designer Software. Make sure to come back here and see it :)

Staying busy...

Wow, things have been crazy busy at our house the last couple of weeks. We've had school projects, birthdays, baptisms, parties, and even a mid year transfer of schools for my little lady. She's been on a waiting list for over a year for a Charter School and there is finally an open spot for her. It's been such a bitter sweet thing because she has such a great teacher this year but looking forward the Charter School is by far the best option for her and our family. I've decided that this whole parenting thing is a LOT harder than it should be. It was an agonizing decision decision that we had to make.

During all the crazy busy parenting stuff I've missed sharing some of my scrappy projects here.

The first project is a team up project that I did with Bella Blvd and Epiphany Crafts.

I had so much fun creating with a punch set from Epiphany and Bella Products. Here's what I created:

The first project I created was a birthday card. I love how the silver charms added a bit of shine to the card.

The next project was also a birthday card. This one is a little more whimsical with the polka dots.

The last project I created for the team up was a layout. I LOVE love LOVE how it turned out. The Epiphany products add so much dimension that make my projects stand out.

And here's the finished layout:
Thanks so much for stopping by :) Have a wonderful day :)

My Valentines (Bella Blvd)

I had 2 layouts on the Bella Blvd blog yesterday. I waited until today to post it here because it's Valentines Day!
 Happy Valentines Day!
I had a free for all assignment for Bella Blvd. I had an adorable photo that I wanted to use in a Valentines layout. This is one of my all time favorite photos so I've already used it on a couple of layouts.
I used a lot of Designer Tapes and The Kiss Me collection to create this layout.
I cut a large heart and covered it with tape to create this large embellishment that frames my photo
I used a small circle punch and punched lots and lots of circles to create the scalloped border on both sides of the layout
And here's the finished layout...

My next layout is a fun pink girlie layout about my niece. I get to snuggle her 4 days a week so I take LOTS and LOTS of photos of her :)

And here's the full layout. I used mostly the Birthday Girl collection and lots of Decorative tape

Thanks for taking the time to stop by. I'm always open for comments or suggestions on my blog. Thanks!

Life.Paper.Scrapbook color challenge and a birthday

Hi Everyone! I'm so excited to share this layout with you today. BUT first I have to say Happy Birthday to my baby girl. She is turning 8 today. I'm so proud of her, she is such a great kid. I can always count on her to help me out and put a smile on my face. She is a book worm and has such a tender little heart. I'm so proud to
be her momma!!!

This is my first assignment with Life.Paper.Scrapbook. I LOVED this challenge. This is the color image that we were given as inspiration:

I was so excited about the colors I was going to work with because we're in the middle of winter here and everything is so grey. I was thrilled to finally see some fun warm bright colors. I also tried a new technique, making my own feathers out of patterned paper.

I LOVE how the feathers turned out. They make this layout just pop off the page! Here's the entire layout:
Make sure you join in the fun and take this color challenge. There's a great prize up for grabs. A $20 gift certificate from Freckled Fawn. I love love LOVE Freckled Fawn washi tapes...hurry go play along so you can play with some of their fabulous goodies too :)

Guest Designing for Polka Dot Pixies

I'm thrilled to be a guest designer on the PolkaDotPixies blog today. I was so lucky to be able to design with Heidi a few years a go on a design team at CreativeXpress. I so miss working with her so when she contacted me and asked me to design a card using one of her sketches I couldn't say no!! Here's the sketch she gave me:

Here's my take on this sketch:
I wanted to create a card that could be a Valentine but could also be given as a general I Love You card. Before I even got this card finished my little lady claimed it. As soon as I was finished she grabbed the card and wrote the most adorable little not for her teacher for Valentines day. I love it when I can see my designs used and brightening someones day.

Thanks for stopping by and make sure you take a minute to visit Heidi at PolkaDotPixes

Jammies (Bella BLVD)

I had a layout up with Bella Blvd on Saturday. My assignment was to follow this sketch (courtesy of Page Maps)
February_Sketch1
I had so much fun with this sketch. I usually don't use 4 photos on my layouts so this was a nice challenge for me.
I chose the brightest happiest colors and patterns that I could find in my collection of Bella Supplies
I love the projects I work on for my little guy to be bright and happy and include lots of color. He's such a happy silly kid and I want his personality to be reflected in his scrapbook.
And here's a photo of the finished layout:

Love you baby girl (Bella Blvd)

I've been playing with my Bella Blvd goodies and some adorable photos I took of my niece. The "Kiss Me" collection is traditionally a Valentines Day collection but I changed things up just a little bit and made it work for a baby layout. I love the results.
I used my Silhouette to cut the "you" for the title.

All the stickers, buttons, chipboard, decorative tapes and crochet elements are from Bella Blvd

Here's the completed layout.

Thanks for stopping by today :)

Exciting News!

I'm so excited to announce that I was chosen to be on the Design Team for Life. Paper. Scrapbook. Here's a little bit of information about Life. Paper. Scrapbook:

Life. Paper. Scrapbook is an Australian quarterly, online publication that is dedicated to showcasing designers from all around the world to inspire each other, explore current trends and techniques and most importantly to celebrate our love of scrapbooking and paper crafts. This is a place to share our style, designs and creations with like minded crafters from around the world. (source Life. Paper. Scrapbook).

I'm so excited to be working with designers from all around the world with so many different styles. They are introducing the new designers on their blog. Here's a link to my intro: Becki Adams.

I'm sharing one of my all time favorite layouts today. It was part of my Design Team application.

The thing I love most about this layout is the photo. It's a photo that shows my kiddos relationship with their dad. They love him so much and he loves them. They love to giggle, tease, and laugh together. Don't be surprised if you see this photo again. I'll do a few more layouts with this photo. I want to make sure that each kiddo has one for their personal albums.

Thanks for stopping by today.
